Mid-year recap

How has this year possibly gone by so fast? In just a few weeks, I’ll be marking the four year anniversary of my return to hanfic. I’ve been through a lot in that time. I’ve graduated college, gotten my first jobs, gotten my heart broken… I’ve also been to five Hanson concerts and been with them through two album releases, the most recent of which might be my new favorite.

In addition to all of that, I’ve written hundreds of thousands of words of hanfic, quite of a lot of it just within this year. And that brings me to the purpose of this post. As I prepare for July’s session of Camp NaNoWriMo, I wanted to recap what I’ve accomplished this year. So here it is:

Stories I’ve Finished

  • Audience of One — It took right around a year, but I finished this one… and then decided to write a sequel.
  • Interwoven and Denouement — Finished in April and June. I hadn’t planned to write a fourth part, but it felt necessary. I have a soundtrack for the entire series that I want to post soon, and a few plans for some “lost chapters” for the series.
  • Untold — Okay, technically I finished this one in late 2012, but the last few chapters were posted at the beginning of this year.

Stories I’m Still Working On

  • Beating Heart — The sequel to Audience. I wrote the biggest chunk of it in April, am still editing that, and hope to add the last few chapters during July Camp NaNo. Editing and posting it all will take a big portion of the fall, though.
  • Gravity — I’m so glad I was finally able to debut this story in February. The chapters are a bit long, but I don’t anticipate their being more than perhaps eighteen, so it will definitely be finished this fall.
  • Loaded God Complex — My newest story. Lindsay and I wrote the first several chapters really quickly, but we’re slowing down a bit now. I don’t anticipate this being a super long story, but it could be. We’ll be working on this for a while.
  • Songs Left Unsung — This story is a beast. I’ll be working on it during July Camp NaNo, but I don’t expect that I’ll finish it then. I could still be working on this one in 2014.
  • Truth is a Whisper — I know, I know. But I’m not not working on this one. As soon as Amber gets her parts done, there will be several chapters to post.
  • Worlds Collide — Very close to finishing this one. Should be adding the last few chapters during July Camp NaNo.

Stories I’ll Be Working On Soon

  • 30 Days of Smut — Not technically a story, but a prompt thingy I want to do when I have a free month. This may never happen.
  • Another Mirage — Prequel to Love And Other… I planned to do it during July Camp NaNo, but decided that I needed to get ahead on my other projects first before adding another one.
  • Bled Dry — Another collab with Amber. We worked on this one a lot a few months ago, but we didn’t quite get it ready to share. Hopefully we will later this year.
  • Latitudes and Satellites — I don’t have a ton of plans for this one, but I like the concept. Will hopefully start working on it in earnest soon. Shouldn’t be a very long story.

And I think that’s about it for this year! It sounds like a lot, but I’m in the home stretch of some many of those stories. The last few months of this year should be fairly relaxing, writing-wise. I’m not sure I remember what that feels like…
