About the Story

The idea for this story came to me during NaNoWriMo 2009. I had adopted a plot from the NaNo forums about someone getting married and waking up a year later, seperated, with no memories. Another story with a character death inspired me to write my own, but with a few tweaks. I combined the two plots together and ended up with what I originally referred to as the “Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Hanfic.”

I attempted to write the story for NaNo 2010, but real life obligations kept me too busy to be creative and I only managed about 12k words. But I couldn’t give up on the story, and I tried it again for NaNo 2011 — and succeeded!

In the end, the plot drifted away from my original sci-fi inspired idea, and into fairly predictable sappy romance territory. And a lot of the flashback scenes are pretty standard for any sort of Zaylor backstory. But I still like the way it all worked out. I know the format is a bit confusing, but that’s somewhat intentional. I want the reader to be just as lost as Zac, and in the end, there are a few loose ends left.

The song Georgia randomly ended up being a plot point that I hadn’t planned for. That interpretation of the song is not my own — I have this video by Kerry to thank for it.
