November 2010

Avery closed her eyes as she stood at the kitchen sink doing dishes after the dinner that she and Ethan had thrown with their friends. A friendsgiving as Ethan had called it. A small get together that really consisted of most of his friends and one that was done three days before Thanksgiving because Ethan left tomorrow and he had wanted to see his friends before he went.

Avery liking the idea because it gave her something to do to keep her mind off the heartbreak of Paisley having married Sloan. A heartbreak that still hadn’t fully eased even though it had been a few weeks. Hadn’t eased no matter how much she lost herself in fooling around with Ethan.

The both of them finding themselves in each others bed every night still. Even the nights they didn’t fool around because just sleeping next to someone seemed to be good for Avery. Having a warm body next to her, an arm around her waist was comforting and it reminded her that she wasn’t alone.

She was half terrified to even have Ethan leave tomorrow now. Knew it was selfish that she wanted him to stay but she did.

What would she do alone at night now? She’d probably just cry and have pity parties and that didn’t seem fun at all.

Feeling arms wrapping around her from behind Avery couldn’t help but smile even in her moral dilemma. The smell that was so distinctly Ethan feeling her senses and his arms feeling nice. Nicer than they had a right too for someone that she was only fooling around with to ease her heartbreak.

“You’re dinner tonight was amazing,” Ethan muttered out as his lips softly kissed her neck and once again Avery let her eyes fall shut. Her smile growing. “I think everyone I know couldn’t stop raving about it. Especially those pumpkin cheesecake cupcakes you made.”

“What can I say, working at a bakery helps my culinary skills,” Avery teased as she opened her eyes and let her hands slip out of the sink. Turning in Ethan’s arms to face him.

“You need to use those skills more when it’s just you and me here at home,” he smirked and Avery hated the funny feeling in her stomach when he used the word home.

It was indeed their apartment, their home but it was just something in the way he said it.

“You want to get fat a few months before the world finally gets to see your face and hear your music?” Avery questioned once again teasing him. “Not sure that would go well in swooning all the female fans you are sure to get.”

Ethan’s smirk grew but before he said anything else he leaned in to peck at her lips. Avery returning the peck as she let her body move closer to his. Her arms wrapping around his neck.

It was like her body needed him even if she tried to fight it. It seemed he had done what he wanted this summer and finally broken her down. Made her weak for him and if she were being honest with herself she didn’t mind it much.

She liked being wrecked by him more than she had liked anything else and that scared her. It scared her so much because the last time she had felt like that was with Paisley and they had both hurt at the end.

They had done so much damage that Avery wasn’t sure if they’d ever come back. How could they come back? Paisley had chosen to marry someone else and left Avery to pick up the pieces of her broken heart on her own.

When Ethan pulled away from her Avery couldn’t help the frown on her lips because she wanted his lips against hers again. At least she still had his body close and for now that could be enough. Would have to be enough.

“I don’t care what the fans think of me. Only care if you’d love me if I let myself go and got fat,” he said with a teasing light in his eyes. “You think I’d still be sexy fat?”

Laughing Avery buried her face into his neck, “Maybe,” she lied because she wasn’t sure he would. “Then again I could be lying to appease your feelings.”

“Or you could just want me for my body and that was your way of telling me that,” Ethan teased her more and Avery kept her face buried in his neck. “Maybe I’ll just keep my figure and do exercises so my ass gets big. I have always wanted a bigger ass and it’s really not fair that you have a better ass than me.”

Lifting her head, Aver raised an eyebrow as she looked at him curiously. “You’re jealous of my ass?” she asked him finding that laughable because she had always hated her own ass.

Nodding Ethan leaned in to peck at her lips again, his forehead resting against hers, “Yours and your brother Taylor’s,” he admitted with a blush to his cheeks now and Avery felt it was because of the Taylor bit.

Ethan was somehow embarrassed to admit that he had checked Taylor out. Though he shouldn’t have been after all Avery knew Ethan also liked men and god knew Taylor attracted men as well as women. For a lot of people her brother was the way they found out their sexuality whether it was gay, straight, or lesbian.

“Nice to know you have checked out my brother,” Avery teased him as she moved away from him, trying to act like she was offended.

“Can you blame me?” Ethan asked obviously sensing her teasing. “He has a nice ass but if I had to choose between your ass and his, I’d definitely choose yours.”

Shaking her head Avery rolled her eyes, “You’re only saying that because you get to see me naked.”

“Speaking of seeing you naked,” Ethan began as he let his finger come up to trace at her lips, making them tingle as well as making the want for his lips on hers even worse again now. “How about we shower and then go to bed so I can do dirty things to you?”

“You have an early flight,” Avery reminded him though she didn’t want too. She just didn’t want to remember again that he’d be gone and she’d be alone when she’d gotten so attached to him and how he was helping her as she tried to get over Paisley. “You should be sleeping not doing dirty things to me.”

Ethan smirked before removing his fingers from her lips and he kissed her again. This kiss just a ghost almost because it barely touched her lips and Avery was sure Ethan knew what he was doing. Knew that he was driving her crazy with want.

“I should be but I’d much rather do you instead of sleeping,” he spoke softly and the seductive, sultry tone of his voice was enough to make her get wetter than she already was.

Her want for him growing and she knew in the end she couldn’t deny him what he wanted. Not when she wanted it too.

“Okay,” Avery agreed as she locked eyes with him. “But I’ll do all of that on one condition,” she added on watching as Ethan raised his eyebrow now as he looked at her. Puzzlement clear on his face.

“And what is the one condition?” Ethan finally asked sounding wary for whatever Avery had in mind.

Giving him an innocent smile Avery let her arms go around his neck, “Kiss me proper again,” she told him as her innocent smile turned into a smirk.

A matching smirk soon appearing on Ethan’s lips. “I think that can be arranged,” he whispered before kissing her again and this was no almost kiss or whisper of a kiss. His lips were moving against hers hungrily. His tongue finding a home inside of her mouth as his hands went to rest on her ass.

Something Avery wasn’t opposed to at all.

“Come with me tomorrow,” Ethan spoke softly, Avery who was on the edge of sleep beside him in his bed opening her eyes as her forehead wrinkled because she was sure she had misheard him or even maybe could have been dreaming without realizing that she had been.

“What?”

“Come with me tomorrow when I leave to go home for Thanksgiving,” Ethan said again and she hadn’t misheard him or dreamt it. He had asked her to go with him to New York to spend Thanksgiving with his family.

Turning to face Ethan after he had repeated himself, Avery let her legs tangle with Ethan’s then. Loving the feel of their skin touching without them even being sexual.

“Are you crazy?” she asked him as she let out a sigh. “I’d have to buy a ticket and it may not be on the same flight as yours…” she started but was shushed when Ethan put his finger on her lips.

“I kind of bought you a ticket when I got mine,” he confessed and she was sure if it wasn’t dark in the room she’d be able to see his blush. “I want you to come and really when was the last time you had a proper Thanksgiving with a family?” he asked her and his question hurt her in ways.

It reminded her that she really hadn’t had one in a while. Not since her mom kicked her out.

She celebrated with Cordelia last year but that had just been at Cordelia’s apartment with a few of her college friends before Cordelia had gone back to Tulsa to celebrate with her own family.

Avery having been left alone because by the time she had made it back home to Los Angeles, Ethan had left for New York to be with his family.

“And you’re just now telling me about the ticket?” Avery asked ignoring his comment about a proper Thanksgiving. Afraid if she said anything she’d get emotional and it was way too early or late at night, depending on how you looked at it, to be getting emotional.

“I wasn’t sure how to approach it and I was afraid if I asked sooner you’d reject me sooner.”

Going silent at Ethan’s words Avery heaved a sigh because she probably would have rejected him. She still could reject him in the end.

It would be weird going to his family’s for Thanksgiving, especially now that it seemed their relationship had turned sexual and a lot less platonic and just this summer they had told his mom and sister they were purely friends. That she was a lesbian..which she still was or at least she thought she was.

She preferred women but Ethan it seemed was her weakness and how would they explain things to his mom and sister because she expected they’d realize the change. There was no way Avery could not be affectionate with him now, not when she was used to being that way ever since this had started.

But besides all that she also didn’t want to impose on his family. Yet even despite all the reasons why she knew it would be weird and why she shouldn’t go she wasn’t sure she could be without him yet.

Knew she’d miss him and the way it felt to just have his presence beside her, especially at night in bed.

“Okay,” she spoke as she nodded her head. “I’ll go with you,” she said knowing she’d have to pack in a short amount of time and by the time it was all done she’d want to murder Ethan but Avery was going to go.

She only hoped she didn’t regret this in the end.
