One fourth of the year gone

With a quarter of the year gone, I thought it was time to give you guys an update on my progress so far in 2014. It got long, so check it out below the jump.

So I did my little fic survey again, and I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get more replies than last year, but I was happy with what feedback I got. Here is a summary of the responses. I know a lot of people were interested in sequels to a few of my collabs, and I’m finally able to announce that two of those will be/are happening.

First, of course, is the one I teased you all with last week, Naked Magic. Lindsay and I are working opposite shifts, so it’s taking a looooong time to get these chapters written. We are working on it, though. Once we get the first few chapters edited and get a better vision for how the rest of the story is going to go, we’ll start posting.

The second of those is I Will Try To Fix You, the loooong awaited sequel to Darling, I Want To Destroy You. Amber and I started playing around with this one last year, after telling people there would not be a sequel. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that we found the shape and feel of it, but the writing process is still slow going. Darling and Fix You are both very dark, very emotionally complex stories, so it takes a lot of strength to write. I know that may sound silly if you aren’t a writer, or even if you are, but it’s true.

Speaking of collabs with Amber… Truth lives, yet again! That story is a zombie, basically. We’ve very nearly reached the 1/3 mark on part 3, and things get really crazy there. After we reach that point and drop a pretty big bombshell on you guys, we’re going to take a break. That break will give us some time to work on Camp NaNoWriMo, and all of the four billion other collabs we have.

Okay, not four billion. Just three more. One doesn’t have a title and needs a lot of work, but I think any of you Zarrick (that would be Zac/Carrick) fans and anyone who likes stories that crash right through the fourth wall should enjoy it if/when it sees the light of day. Then there’s another one, A Fool’s Hope, that is wildly AU, set in a world where Hanson didn’t survive the bullshit and form 3CG. Sounds depressing, but the story is set years after that, with Zaylor reconnecting and developing a new relationship.

The third of the unpublished collabs is Bled Dry, which I know many of you are familiar with if you read my 30 Days of Smut thingies. I did three little ‘lost chapters’ from this unpublished story because I really wanted those characters to see the light of day. We drafted this thing way back in the summer of 2012, then spent months lamenting after her laptop ate some of the best and most important scenes. We started redoing some of the other weaker scenes last spring, but didn’t make it very far. Then 30 Days of Smut happened and I sent our “drafts” off to a few people. Calla confirmed my suspicion that splitting it into two stories would improve it, and so after Bled Dry will come Flesh and Bone. We’re a lot more focused in Fix You and Truth, but I think I can speak for both of us when I say that this will be the next one we work on. We’ve already been organizing scenes and stuff, but we haven’t written anything new.

So, that’s it for collabs. What about the stuff I’m writing on my own?

Well, there’s Songs Left Unsung, the story that never ends. But it WILL end, and soon. I’m a little nervous about some of the reactions to the final act of it, and that has me dragging my feet, but I really do want to finish it. Sadly, it won’t be done by its two year anniversary on April 4.

Then there’s In the Dark. I haven’t written anything new on it since NaNoWriMo, but I still have several chapters saved up before I need to write anything new. My outline calls for 60-some chapters and 30 have be published out of 45 written, so… I’m not too worried about my ability to finish this one during the year.

My next solo project is Kiss and Tell, which I will be writing for Camp NaNoWriMo, starting in just a week. I’ve only planned to write 30k rather than 50k, but who knows what will happen. I still have other stories to work on during the month, too, so I may surpass that goal…

And that’s it for now! Hope you guys are excited about all of those stories and will continue to come here back to read them.
